Early handiwork of Joachim Klos
Weimar, 1949
c. 56 x 45cm (asymmetrical)
Heavy, polychrome antique glasses, red flashed glass, painted with black vitreous paint and held in lead cames
In designing this head, Klos may have been inspired by the Head of Christ by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff from ca. 1921, which was executed in Berlin in the studio of Gottfried Heinersdorff.
